President George W. Bush and Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez today announced five organizations as recipients of the 2007 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's highest Presidential honor for organizational performance excellence. For the first time in the history of the Baldrige Award, nonprofit organizations have been selected.

The 2007 Baldrige Award recipients —listed with their category—are:

	PRO-TEC Coating Co., Leipsic, Ohio (Small Business)
	Mercy Health System, Janesville, Wisconsin (Health Care)
	Sharp HealthCare, San Diego, California (Health Care)
	City of Coral Springs, Coral Springs, Florida (Nonprofit)
	U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey (Nonprofit)

The Panel of Judges selected a total of 14 applicants to receive site visits. The group is composed of two small business, four nonprofit, one education, and seven health care organizations.

There are a total of 84 Baldrige Award applications this year, with the Award category breakdown as follows: Manufacturing (2); Service (4); Small Business (7); Health Care (42); Education (16); and Nonprofit (13).
